(PFL)

 

Format and Particulars (Spring 2008 season)

 

á      Eight team mixed womenŐs and menŐs division

á      Game dates and times – Saturdays: 8:45, 9:40, 10:35, 11:30 am games; season begins with Draft Day, 03/08/08. Games begin 03/15/08 and end 06/14/08.

á      Each team plays ten regular season games followed by three playoff games: total of 13 games per team. (Plus the Draft Day makes 14 days of basketball!)

á      After the draft day scrimmages, teams will be formed by the League Commissioner with welcome input from all individuals. Every effort will be made to create teams of equal strength.

á      The cost is $130 if you are currently enrolled in an NTL program and $170 if you are not currently enrolled in an NTL program. Anyone who recruits a new, talented female player receives a $40 discount! There will be eight or nine players per team.

á      All games are at the The PFL Garden (Kennedy School), 5 Cherry Street, Somerville, MA

 

Never Too Late Basketball Camps, Inc. will provide:

 

á      Scorebook scorekeeper plus electronic scoreboard, referee and full NCAA style box score immediately following game. Full cumulative individual, team and league stats (mins, pts, assists, FG made and taken, 3pters made and taken, FTs made and taken; off/def rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, TURNOVERS along with league leaders in fun categories) will be e-mailed the following week.

á      Numbered reversible PFL game jerseys or shirts for those not already in possession of one

 

Rules

á      All games begin on-time; five players needed to begin a game (unless opposing team agrees to play against four)

á      An official PFL game jersey must be worn; any player without a jersey will incur a team technical, resulting in two foul shots for the opposing team

á      20 minute running time halves

á      Stop time last two minutes of each half

á      One full time-outs plus one thirty-second time-out each half (no carry-over allowed)

á      Seventh team foul in half results in bonus one-and-one FTs; nine fouls results in two bonus FTs

á      Five personal fouls disqualifies a player

á      Technical fouls count as personals. Two technicals result in game expulsion and mandatory one game suspension.

á      Any unsportsmanlike conduct (abusive language, excessive physical contact, verbal or physical intimidation) will not be tolerated.

á      The League Commissioner reserves the right to amend the rules, resolve disputes and shamelessly rule in favor of those who seek to be meet the objectives outlined below

 

League Objective: To provide players an opportunity to play the game in a fun, encouraging, positive, yet competitive and challenging environment. Team play, playing under control, playing to improve skills, playing for pure enjoyment and honest competition, and to acknowledge the sportsmanlike efforts of others should be the goal of each team and each individual player.
