Nationally acclaimed weekend program (Sports Illustrated, The Washington Post, Boston Globe)
2008 Never Too Late Basketball Weekend Camps Schedule
April 18-20 - Santa Barbara, CA - $595/$775
April 25-27 - Lakeside, MI* - $545
July 11-13 - Troutdale, OR - $595/$725
September 5-7 - Sheffield, MA - $595/$725
The beauty of the Never Too Late Basketball Weekend Camps is that they are all different, that they are all the same. Though we get many repeat players - "hi, I'm Steve from Medford Lakes, NJ and this is my eighth camp and I just come back every year because I love to play and I have a great time" - most of the players are new and from as many places, really, as there are places; all the states, just about, and enough countries to test your world geography. Friday night's practice, we do not know one another; Sunday morning's, we do. If you think about it, it is just like any good pick-up game you have ever played in. Basketball can show us exactly who we are. I have never seen your face, I may not speak your language, but because of that backdoor bounce pass you just gave me, I am naming my first born after you. Everyone wants to experience, whether it be the first time or the next time, the beauty of playing the game together. And getting to that place, no matter the setting, no matter the players, is the journey we take. Every time. Play Better, Play Forever. The Never Too Late Basketball Weekend Camps.

NTL Santa Barbara Weekend Camp What do you get yourself into when you come to the NTL camp in Santa Barbara? There is venerable Robertson Gym on the campus of UCSB, right where the Lakers' dynasty of the 80's practiced. We may not be Showtime, but we will run the break, take hundreds and hundreds of jumpers, (then jump in the Jacuzzi), pass and screen away, read the defense, (scan menus at numerous beach-side restaurants), and let the sweet scent of eucalyptus turn all of us into our own version of basketball Magic. |

NTL Lakeside, MI Weekend Camp As an east coaster, a certified blue-stater, a New Yorker transported to Boston, and now one who has run this camp for the past five years, I am here to say that Lakeside, MI (an hour-and-a-half from Chicago, serene and beautiful) and more precisely the NTL camp here is legit and has got the basketball mojo and then some. We see some serious (and happy when they leave) faces there. As one of the other coaches once said to me, "they want it!" The cross-over? Help defense? Can we drill that some more? Show me that pivot on the shape-up off the down screen again? (Oh, is that Lake Michigan?) Coach, give me some range on my jumper; that's a big, big lake I got to shoot over. |

NTL Portland, OR Weekend Camp If you love basketball, you will love it here. If you love someone who loves basketball, send them or better yet, bring them to Troutdale this year. State of the art gym, vineyard and micro-brewery on the premises. Tall trees, tall coaches. Remember Walton, Mo Lucas, Twardzik, Hollins? If not (or even if so), we will show you exactly what they did to make themselves better, make themselves the best. Highly skilled, no wasted motion, unselfish, intelligent, passionate basketball is what we are after here. |

Race Brook Lodge, Sheffield, MA |
$595/$725 |
NTL Sheffield, MA Weekend Camp Always our last camp of the season, like a game seven in a playoff series, it brings out the best in us and our campers. Friday night we put the offense in place. Saturday morning, after the hike, after the waterfall sunrise, after the coffee and training table breakfast, we drill the skills to make the offense function. Next, we unleash the defense to keep the offense honest and test the integrity of our practicing. Saturday afternoon, after realizing we need to get better, we focus, we strip away pretense, we are way into the game. Play faster while slowing the game down: anticipate and read the defense. After the ride to the gym, sun squinting, fog fingering gullies, Sunday's scrimmages are where you learn once again…why you love this game. |
*Single rooms in MI, all other camps are double occupancy; single rooms available at other camps at noted second price; day camper rates are also available.
Camp fees include coaching, videotaped instruction, two nights lodging (double occupancy), two breakfasts, two lunches, NTL tee shirt, camp photo, and written evaluation.
