| Matignon HS, 1 Matignon Rd., Cambridge.
From Rt. 16, turn onto Mass. Ave. in the Cambridge direction. Follow Mass. Ave. to the first traffic light. Take a left. This is Churchill Ave. Follow Churchill in one block. There it ends and the HS is smack in front of you. Go to the furthest left hand part of the building (there is a wing recessed on the left-side). There you will find a green door. Open that door, walk up a few steps and listen to the clunk-clunk of basketballs on the hardwood floor. From Harvard Sq., follow Mass. Ave. about 3/4 mile beyond Porter Square (the square with the big red windmill at the T stop). Take a right at the first traffic light beyond the Midas shop, just before Jack's Gas. This is Churchill Ave. The school and basketball glory are just one block ahead. Entrance is through the green door which is at the far left end of the school. See you there! About the gym: A funky little gym (68') whose foul lines are 8" short of regulation; same with the three-point arc (makes you feel like you've got "range"). Wood floor, new, good lighting. Two new glass backboards and four side hoops that are virtually unusable because the bleachers are right underneath. Bleachers to throw your stuff on and sit on when you're subbed out. We give it a 6.5 out of 10. |
